My name is Alfredo Maldonado Guerra and this is my personal blog. In it you can read news about my recent work as well as what I’ve been up to in my daily life.
During an eight year tenure at Microsoft, I held the positions of Spanish Terminologist (2000-2006) and Linguistic Engineer (2006-2009). As a Linguistic Engineer, my main responsibility was to develop tools for the terminology management team (Microsoft Language Excellence). One of the most important tools I developed is a terminology consistency checker that uses Statistical Natural Language Processing Methods. I presented the tool’s algorithm at the
LRC XIII conference and the
DCLRS in Trinity College Dublin.
I have just transitioned back to Academia to pursue an MSc. degree by research in
Computational Linguistics at Trinity College Dublin. I plan to continue exploring new ways of applying natural language technologies to terminology management and terminology research, and to translation/localisation in general.
